Leading children’s author MICHAEL MORPURGO and Somerset campaigner STEVE ROSS made a very forceful case for the retention of our libraries. Michael Morpurgo compares the short-sighted vandalism of the Beeching cuts to British railways in the 1960s (where we are still suffering with the legacy of a failing transport infrastructure today) to the Draconian cuts to our library system today.
